Everyone should watch this movie.
Oh hey look I bought a Lucky Protection Red Sandalwood wrist mala (which is basically a bracelet made of Buddhist prayer beads). It has carved depictions of the Chinese characters for ‘Lucky’, ‘Safety’, and ‘Protection’. Although the idea of Buddhist prayer beads confuses me since (at least in the Theravada Buddhism), meditation is the only way to reach enlightenment, and Siddhartha Gautama (the original/supreme Buddha) taught that there should be nothing worshiped/idolized in Buddhism. But anyways, I admire the Buddhist lifestyle, and if I had to pick a religion it would definitely be that. So I bought myself this bracelet.
Mala beads aren’t used for prayer by Buddhists, though they may be by Hindus. Instead they’re used for meditation; mantra meditation to be precise. Typically there are 108 beads of a full mala, each of which must have a mantra repeated on them.
It’s about single-pointedness meditation, the ‘point’ being the mantra, because empty meditation — eradicating all thoughts and be purely conscious on the verge of bliss — is difficult.
Hopefully that’s cleared it up for you a little? :)

Dear Sisyphus,
There is no me. That was just Buddha and Krishna messing with the cosmic vibrations again and havin some fun at your expense. Let go of it already.
Love,
Camus will be so disappointed that you’ve pointed out the futility of a futile task.
Buddha Gautama and Krishna are such Devas…
